A beacon is you, here, now. Pick who sees it and what kind it is: your friends each get one quiet alert, and anyone nearby sees it glow on the map. A free beacon goes out on its own after 1 hour, so nobody has to remember to end it.

The whole app is free and stays free. Evergreen raises the limits, nothing else, for 4.49 EUR a month after 7 days free. Stop paying and everything you made stays.

Show the place, not the people. Photos are of spots, and anything flagged waits for a moderator before anyone else sees it.

Questions
Is HiFinder free?
Yes, all of it. Evergreen is an optional 4.49 EUR a month that gives you more room and supports the app. Nothing is locked away from free members.
Do I need an account to look around?
No. The map, spot pages, routes, Spot of the week and profiles are open to everyone over 18. Join free to mark spots, review, check in, light beacons, post in the Lounge and message friends.
Can people see where I am?
Only if you choose to show them. "Fly to me" keeps your position in your browser. A check-in or a beacon checks your distance once and never stores where you stood. To plan a route, only a point rounded to about 110 m leaves your device. Sharing your location with other members is off until you turn it on, and even then it is rounded.
Why is a spot's location a little off?
On purpose. Everyone except a spot's owner sees it rounded to about 110 m, so a quiet place stays findable without leading anyone to one exact bench, tree or doorstep.
Can I use it on my phone?
Yes, in any phone browser. On many phones you can also add HiFinder to your home screen so it opens like an app. On an iPhone, beacon alerts need it added to the home screen first (Share, then Add to Home Screen).
What happens to my photos?
They are re-saved on our own server, which strips the location your phone recorded, then checked automatically. Anything flagged waits for a person to look at it before anyone else can see it.
How do I leave?
Settings has "Download everything" for a copy of your data and "Delete my account" to remove it all for good. Deleting also cancels Evergreen if you have it.
